About me

Fares Sayegh - Mindfulness Instructor

My name is Fares Sayegh, and I live and work in Lugano, in the Canton of Ticino, Switzerland. From a young age, I’ve been drawn to the search for harmony between mind and body. As a child, I practiced traditional martial arts and was fascinated by the Shaolin monks and the power of meditation.

At the age of 14, after moving with my family from the beach lifestyle of Melbourne, Australia to Lugano, I began exploring relaxation techniques and autogenic training. The transition was not easy—I didn’t speak Italian, and the lifestyle was completely different. Feeling disoriented, I turned inward and naturally began searching for practices that could help me regain balance. This interest was inspired in part by my upbringing in the 1970s, watching my mother practice yoga and meditation in our living room.

By the age of 22, following a car accident and other personal challenges, relaxation and Mindfulness became central to my life. I deepened my understanding of disciplines such as sophrology, Tai Chi, yoga, hypnosis, and various relaxation techniques.

I later began studying psychology at the University of Fribourg. While I completed the first year, I didn’t yet feel ready to pursue a professional path in that field. I eventually earned a degree in economics and went on to work in various roles, gaining experience in project management—both in IT and other sectors.

Throughout my career, I continued to deepen my personal Mindfulness and awareness practices. Around the age of 50, I chose to formally certify my expertise, becoming a qualified instructor in MBSR (Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction), Mindfulness and Compassion, Tai Chi Qigong Shibashi.
